Please read this first if you wish to add your name to the list of Beta-Testers for Superbase.

We are very grateful for the keeness and expertise that is offered to us by so many people, and while we have to spread our net as widely as possible, the work involved in servicing a Beta program means that we have to spread the net pretty thinly aswell.

Please understand, that our Beta test program is not like those run by some other large firms who use a 'Beta' release as a mechanism to issue their products without needing to provide any guarantees of safety in use or any support for that product.

For Superbase Developers plc a Beta program is really a beta program. We ask our testers to spend their valuable time testing a product which is not ready for release. As a 'reward' those Beta Testers who have demonstrated their committment are issued with a free copy of the product when it is released.

We require a degree of committment in that when a bug or a problem is found, it is 'chased-down' as far as possible. We are not interested in a 'my app doesn't work' report, we need details and hopefully a *small* reproducible. (Sometimes, of course, a problem only appears along a chain of actions and small reproducibles aren't possible, but the worst example that we have ever had of the kind of thing we do *not* want was 28Mb of code and data which took us 3 weeks to locate the problem and then it was reducible to 24 lines of code that required no data!)

We require that you sign a Non Disclosure Agreement.

All communication between testers and the company is electronic. All direct communication is via email to John Barrs or Scott McDaniel
We provide a Problem Reporting System in which you report your problems and then email to the company at regular intervals.

The Superbase Forum has a 'closed' section which Beta Testers are given access to so that we can discuss problems together and download problems and samples. Currently, we require that Testers can access the Superbase Forum on Compuserve.

We need some information from you before we can add you to our list of potential Beta testers, and you must realise that being on the list does not automatically mean that we would be able to use you.

We need a *brief* outline of:
1) your experience in the computing industry especially of course with SB (We don't need details, just a couple of sentences ... Mailing Systems using Access and SB.. 3 years with SB ....)
2) your current environment - what machines, networks etc - any 'special' equipment (eg ..SB drives VideoCameras..)
3) any 'special' requirements and uses of SB (eg .. OLE to Winword under Process ..)
4) Name and Address..including phone,fax and email)
5) How much time could you give us dedicated to testing... is this time restricted to certain periods? (if so, please let us know when and keep us informed as conditions change ... there is no point in us asking for a last big surge of effort from our Betas in August if they are nearly all on holiday! or from a particular tester in March who 'has-to finish this project by the end of April')

If you wish to be added to the list of possible Beta testers, please email John Barrs or Scott McDaniel with the 'outline' data and asking for an NDA. Just to explain 'who to mail' we have roughly divided the world up as follows:

The American Continents and Pacific-Rim Countries: Please Contact
Scott McDaniel (74774,561)
- or from the internet - 74774.561@compuserve.com)

Rest of World: Please Contact
John Barrs (100044,1311)
 - or from the internet - 100044.1311@compuserve.com)

We appreciate that people in some time zones (especially Australia and New Zealand) may be better served by breaking that rough division, so the divisions are not a hard rule. If it serves you better to contact the other person, then so be it.
