HELPBREEZE 1.6 LEVERAGES THE FULL POWER OF MICROSOFT WORD FOR WINDOWS 6.0 


SUNNYVALE, CA--February 15, 1994--Solutionsoft announced today 
that it is shipping version 1.6 of its Windows help authoring tool, 
HelpBreeze(tm).  Version 1.6 is a significant upgrade and leverages the 
full power of Microsoft. Word(tm) 6.0 with the addition of the 
HelpBreeze Topic Wizard--an automated help file development tool 
based on the standard Word 6.0 Wizard interface.  The upgrade is 
compatible with both Word 6.0 and Word 2.0.  Introduced in October 
1993, HelpBreeze provides an integrated environment for developing 
Windows help files under Microsoft Word for Windows and allows 
developers to add animations, slide shows, 256-color graphics and 
sound to help files. 

WIZARD AUTOMATES HELP FILE DEVELOPMENT

	HelpBreeze 1.6 is one of the first Word for Windows add-ins 
to take advantage of the Wizard technology introduced in Microsoft 
Word 6.0.  Using the Topic Wizard is somewhat similar to using a 
database application to generate a report or print mailing labels.  The 
developer specifies a list of topic titles and chooses a format for the 
topics.  The Wizard then expands the list of titles into a series of fully 
formatted topics and inserts them into the document.  All help topic 
elements, including topic titles, context strings, keywords and browse 
sequences, are created automatically.  The author can choose from a set 
of pre-defined topic styles or create a completely custom topic layout.  
Once the topics have been formatted, the developer adds his or her own 
text and graphics to complete the help file. 

	 While a number of products, including HelpBreeze, provide 
the capability to automatically convert an existing document into a help 
file, the HelpBreeze Topic Wizard is the first tool which automates the 
creation of a Windows help system from scratch.  By automating
the process of creating and formatting topics, the Topic Wizard allows 
the developer to focus on the structure and content of the help 
system--rather than on the tedium of laying out individual topics.  
The Wizard not only results in enormous time savings; it also virtually 
guarantees the kind of consistent, polished layout which characterizes 
a professional-quality help system.

	The Topic Wizard includes special support designed to ease 
the job of developers who need to document an API or macro language.  
The Wizard can automatically parse the syntax for a function or macro 
and create a help topic complete with title, keyword, function syntax 
description and a custom table for describing the function arguments.  
Source code documentation can be generated directly from C/C++ header 
files.  This feature makes the Topic Wizard a powerful tool for 
automatically creating on-line specifications and reference 
documentation--not only for published programming language products, 
but also for internal software development projects.

	HelpBreeze 1.6  includes comprehensive point and click 
support for all aspects of the Windows 3.1 help engine.  A complete set 
of visual tools makes the more advanced features of the help system, 
such as secondary windows and help macros, more accessible to help 
file authors.  Automated, two-way conversion between help files and 
normal Word documents allows authors to use the same material as the 
basis for both on-line help and printed documentation.  Extensive 
support is included for establishing context-sensitive links between help 
files and Windows applications.

 	Included with HelpBreeze is Slide Show for WinHelp(tm), a 
distributable DLL which can be used to add slide shows, sound and 
bitmap animations to help files.  VCR-style buttons allow the user to 
control presentations directly.  Individual slides can act as hotspots 
linked to hypertext jumps or pop-ups, and a Windows sound file can be 
attached to each slide.  The Slide Show DLL is particularly effective 
when used to create WinHelp-based product demos, electronic 
brochures and simple multimedia presentations.
